We’re trying to have Peace Talks with the Taliban.
NO way.
No kidding?
….the Taliban???
- The same Taliban who let al Qaeda stick around in Afghanistan until we went in and kicked them out?
- The same Taliban who endorses the ‘Honor Killing’ (aka execution) of women?
- The same Taliban which even that noted Right-wing, extremist newspaper, The New York Times, described this way back in 2009?
“Every night around 8 o’clock, the terrified residents of Swat, a lush and picturesque valley a hundred miles from three of Pakistan’s most important cities, crowd around their radios. They know that failure to listen and learn might lead to a lashing — or a beheading.
Using a portable radio transmitter, a local Taliban leader, Shah Doran, on most nights outlines newly proscribed “un-Islamic” activities in Swat, like selling DVDs, watching cable television, singing and dancing, criticizing the Taliban, shaving beards and allowing girls to attend school.
He also reveals names of people the Taliban have recently killed for violating their decrees — and those they plan to kill.”
THAT Taliban?
Am I the only person out there who think this is the most ill-advised, ridiculous idea, ever?
Why should we enter into talks with people whose word we can’t trust for five seconds? People who aren’t even as humane as the kids in Lord Of The Flies? Would YOU negotiate with anyone who has proven to be lying, murderous, treacherous, traitorous scum?
Why would you? How could you?
My memory may be a touch hazy here, but didn’t some dude named Obama (waaay back in the dark ages of 2008) criticize the very idea of negotiating with the Taliban? He did?
Hey, Barack: this was one area where you may have been right for a change!
Yet now, all so he can attempt to somehow save face, he’s willing to negotiate with …the Taliban. Oh, yeah, that Smart Power we were promised keeps working out better and better for us, doesn’t it?
But in case anyone has somehow not followed my logic up to now, and is still not 100% convinced that “Peace Talks With The Taliban” is the Big Kahuna of bad ideas, let me try just one more time:
We shouldn’t have “Peace Talks With The Taliban”, for the simple reason that we can’t trust the Taliban.
And we can’t trust the Taliban, because (now stay with me here….):
They’re the TALIBAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, …
Any questions?
I……..just…….do……NOT……get…….it!
Seriously, it’s like we’re living in bizarro-world. And yet, this seems to be the perfect follow up to the Benghazi debacle. (about which, BTW, I and others still have a LOT of unanswered questions.)
If it were to EVER be accurately recorded in history, I guarantee our current President would be the ultimate, emeritus, NUMERO UNO on at least ONE list: Worst foreign policy Presidents of all time.
Good point, Pgh:
Actually, Benghazi makes a lot more sense when you look at this now, doesn’t it?
And worse: THIS makes more sense, …when you consider Benghazi.
There are the ignorant and the enlightened. The only way to get through this is to hang with the sane. Thanks, nice to know there are still a few out here who get it.
Sorry for being so tardy in my reply, B-Ville.
I echo your sentiment: it’s quite comforting to know that I’m not the ONLY person who sees this stuff and wants to scream, or to toss my TV out the window.
Or both…
