(VIDEO) – Memorial Day Tribute

memorial-day-cost

The video below is still the best, most stirring Memorial Day Tribute I’ve ever found.

May God Bless our brave military men and women, too many of whom have sacrificed EVERYTHING to protect our freedom. They are the reason we can spend today cooking hot dogs and hamburgers with our family.

What is the point of Gun Registration?

2nd Amnd 3

Recently, a federal judge upheld a law in Washington, D.C. requiring guns be registered every three years (among other things). Taken in conjunction with Connecticut’s “assault weapons” registration law which just went into effect January 1st, they portend ill-tidings for both the Second Amendment and our country itself.

Still, you might ask:  “What IS the problem with registration”? And if you did, I’d answer, “How much do you know about the Supreme Court decision entitled U.S. v. Haynes – 1968“?

Clayton Cramer wrote a fascinating article on the subject that I read at Firearms and Liberty.  His summary of the case is as follows:

“In Haynes v. U.S. (1968), a Miles Edward Haynes appealed his conviction for unlawful possession of an unregistered short-barreled shotgun.

His argument was ingenious:

Obama’s Warped Vision of ‘Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness’

Robert - DejaReviewerIt is plainly evident that President Barack Obama doesn’t respect the Constitution of the United States. He’s content to sidestep Congress in order to illegally appoint people to Cabinet positions, change existing laws on his latest whim, and completely ignore laws with which he doesn’t agree.

Why is he setting so many dangerous precedents? Even if you favor his policies, it should concern all of us that he’s being so brazen in overstepping his Constitutional authority to implement them.

Freedom?? – Florida woman living “off the grid” is being evicted from her house

**(Kudos to ‘WChildBlog‘ for bringing this to our attention…)

How many of us have ever wondered aloud about living more simple, less cluttered lives? Regardless of one’s motivation, regardless of whether any of us would actually CHOOSE it for ourselves, living without mankind’s modern “conveniences” does have a certain allure.

As long as we’re not hurting others, isn’t such a decision is up to us? In a free society, isn’t that our choice to make?

And if it’s not, then how free ARE we, …really?

So after this initial article on Fox4 News came out, Cape Coral’s city code enforcement officers showed up and proclaimed Robin Speronis’ house to be “unfit” for human habitation.

Did she have rats? No. Was she mixing dangerous chemicals that could potentially hurt others? No. Did she owe the city money? Again, no.

When Obama speaks of “Freedom”, he doesn’t mean what you THINK he means…

gregwardwv“…Did you see that amazing football game this weekend?…”

That’s a question millions of Americans ask each other every week throughout the fall and early winter. Whether you prefer high school, college or the NFL is irrelevant: it is the nation’s unquestioned #1 sport, and everyone knows precisely what is meant upon hearing the question.

And yet: what happens if you ask the same question of an Englishman? Instantaneously, he’ll picture images of a soccer field in a rowdy stadium, with the latest exploits of Manchester United or some other local club replaying in his mind.

We purportedly speak the same language (English), and use the exact same word (“football”). The actual understood meanings of that word, however, are completely different.

And so it is with Barack Obama and “freedom”. Whenever he speaks of it, our president is supposedly speaking the same language as the country he leads, and yet “freedom” to Mr. Obama most certainly doesn’t mean what it does to you and me.

…and it certainly doesn’t mean what our Founders intended, either.

In Honor of Veteran’s Day….

Veterans Day

As the proud son of a Naval Officer, I’m always mindful of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made to ensure our freedom.

Without their service, which included the dual “benefits” of mediocre pay and tremendous personal risk, we’d have no buffer between us and the cruel, heartless despots around the globe.

Another Obama Power Grab: Hey, let’s spend $$$ we don’t have to “prepare” for Climate Change!

Just another day at the office for the despicable, power-hungry busybodies in the Obama Administration, also known as They Know Better, Inc®:

More on this story over at Bunkerville:

“…At a speech at Georgetown University  in June, Mr. Obama outlined executive  actions he would take to require  government and private industry to prepare for  the effects of climate  change.

(Read more: Washington Times

Though laws dealing with the issue are often criticized by those who do not  ascribe to leftist environmental policies, this order is especially dangerous  because Obama completely circumvented congressional oversight in its  implementation.

The fiat decision, entitled “Preparing the United States for the Impacts of  Climate Change,” will have far-reaching effects on the lives of Americans,  despite mounting evidence that human activity has no measurable effect on the  environment.
