June 6, 1944, the allied armies launched the greatest amphibious assault in the history of mankind. Their bravery can’t be overstated, and must never be forgotten:

This is just flat-out cool, and I can think of no one more deserving of having access to this technology first than our magnificent Wounded Warriors:

The high-tech whizzes at DARPA, the military research arm of the Defense Department, displayed some breakthrough technology for space, ocean, robotics and ground war at a Congressional Tech Showcase in Washington earlier this month…”

In Honor of Veteran’s Day….

As the proud son of a Naval Officer, I’m always mindful of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made to ensure our freedom.

Without their service, which included the dual “benefits” of mediocre pay and tremendous personal risk, we’d have no buffer between us and the cruel, heartless despots around the globe.

Why we should NOT attack #Syria….

I’ve avoided discussing the whole “will-he-or-won’t-he” babbling regarding President Obama and Syria until now, choosing to read all of the many rationales for our traipsing into another complex, murky battle. Having digested plenty of arguments, both pro- and con-, I have no choice but to come down firmly on the “No” side.

This isn’t just because there are no clear-cut “good guys” here, although trying to figure out who to root for/against in Syria makes the ’90s Bosnian War look like an old Lone Ranger episode. Nor am I against lobbing warheads into Syria simply due to us conservatives “hating this President“. As a lowly blogger, my decision isn’t even slightly political, even though there are lots of political nuances affecting this vote, on all sides.

Bottom line: I don’t trust Obama’s judgement with this, because I don’t believe HE wants to be there.

And if history has shown us anything, it’s that when the leader of a country doesn’t absolutely want to be IN a conflict, it’s unlikely they’re going to WIN the conflict.

“The Left vs. our Military Chaplains”: Political Correctness is the new god of the State

A while back, we covered a statement from the Pentagon which confirmed that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith. This seemed to endanger the role of chaplains in military service, since reaching out to soldiers from a religious perspective is part and parcel of their vocation and their training.

A quote from the military site, Stars and Stripes:

What it comes down to, officials said, is that discussing matters of faith and religious practice with a willing audience is allowed, but pushing religious beliefs on those who don’t want to hear it is a form of harassment forbidden under Defense Department policies.

While I strongly disagree that having a man of the cloth reach out to a non-believer equates to “pushing” one’s religious beliefs, if that’s how the military wants it, so be it.

But the following article takes that decision …and basically beats military chaplains over the head with it.
