Back in the news: “Obamacare and Death Panels”

In the “good-news-&-bad-news” category, there’s a tiny bit of good news…and plenty of bad.

First, the “Good” news, such as it is.

Senator Marco Rubio joined Ted Cruz in support of eliminating funding for this year’s implementation of Obamacare. We’ll need more than Rubio & Cruz on this, but it’s a start.

Legislation funding the federal government for the next several months wouldn’t gain support from Sen. Marco Rubio unless the bill de-funds President Barack Obama’s sweeping health care law, the Florida Republican said on Thursday.

Rubio, long an opponent of Obamacare, said he could support a so-called continuing resolution bill if it includes an amendment stripping funding from the Affordable Care Act. 

We’ve been screaming about Obamacare for what seems like an eternity, but just in case you’ve recently been tempted into thinking “well, gee, maybe I was wrong all this time? I mean, how bad could it be?”, let me TELL you how bad it could be.

So NOW you’re thinking to yourself, “Self, this study doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a ‘guide‘, after all. Just a ‘tool‘. No one would ever use such information to artificially shorten someone’s life, or deny them available care, …would they?”

And the answer is: if the Government is on the hook for part or all of the bill? You bet your sweet bippy they would:

“Half of those on Liverpool Care Pathway never told”

(UK Telegraph) – “Almost half of dying patients placed on the controversial Liverpool Care Pathway are never told that life-saving treatment has been withdrawn, a national audit has found.“

That’s from December, 2012, so this isn’t from the dark ages; this is right NOW.

Obamacare is setting us on a path of less care and less control. It won’t happen all at once, it’ll be somewhat gradual. But isn’t that how we’ve gotten ourselves into the mess we’re in, in so many different areas: gradually? Where does it end?

Heck, we’ve just seen another planning failure of Obamacare which is exceptionally egregious, due it being for such a short period of time. Just this past month, tens of thousands of people who don’t qualify for standard health insurance (due to preexisting medical problems) suddenly found out they were blocked from a temporary Government program designed to help them until Obamacare fully kicked in, because its funding ran low.

Think about that for a sec: they only had to predict one, tiny fraction of this bureaucratic behemoth, and then for only a measly two-year horizon (until 2014), which is nothing in insurance terms. That funding was designed by the Big Health Care Brainy-brains in our government, …yet it’s gone.

Whoopsie!!

The Government has less than no clue as to what they’re doing, and this is just the beginning. Obamacare has been a disaster since its inception and every step since, …and it’s not even officially here yet.

As that day approaches, it’s not looking any better, either.
