I watch MSNBC occasionally for the same reason I watch or read anything: I want to know what people think, sometimes especially those folks with whom I disagree. And Lord knows that I often disagree with, and have been critical of, the MSNBC folks in the past.
In my defense, when your channel features such luminaries as Melissa Harris-Perry, Ed Shultz, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews and Al Sharpton every day, merely being “critical” should be viewed as remarkable self-restraint.

Well, they DID warn me that if I voted for Romney, nothing would ever be the same again…
All I wanted yesterday was a brief respite from politics. Normally I favor Sudoku, but on the occasions that I drift over to the daily crossword puzzle, I simply wish to have a semi-reasonable shot at figuring it out.
Now before anyone calls me a whiner, I’m not crying ‘foul’ on the weird, esoteric clues which require you to possess a Mensa-level intellect, nor am I upset when the subject refers to famous Fijian physicists, the mating rituals of Shetland Ponies, or some such nonsense. Just ’cause I don’t happen to know the answer doesn’t mean it’s not a fair question.
The salient point in all that being: “…THE answer…“, as in: ONE. A single, correct answer is all I expect from any puzzle. It’s when there’s an entire mutating HORDE of EQUALLY CORRECT answers that I get a bit testy.
Running short on time today, so I’m ‘re-blogging’ a great post that I read last week. Written by a blogger known only as “zombie“, this is easily one of (if not THE) most creative takes on NSA snooping/spying yet.

I’m sure you’ve heard the term “Happy Warrior“, correct?
But as our country continues to endure a seemingly endless deluge of scandal mania pouring forth from the White House, I’ll admit that I can become somewhat despondent regarding our chances for turning this around. Far too often, I become too focused on the ‘warrior‘ part, …and allow the ‘happy‘ to fall by the wayside.
When that happens, I desperately need to force myself to focus on what’s TRULY essential in my life: my family, friends, faith, health, career, home and the bountiful blessings which God has granted me.

Even after weeks of continued scandal fallout, the Media & the Democrats (“buy one/get the other FREE!“) are still largely trying to downplay the worst aspects of Obama’s Scandal Complex. They’ve referred to the all of the varied and scandalous incidents as ranging from “silly” and “laughable“, to “stupid“, to mere “kerfuffles“. Some are not worth discussing since they happened “a long time ago“, while others are simply “no big deal“.
Uh, huh. Got it.
How “silly” of us to think otherwise.
Regardless, ever so slowly these incidents are taking hold in the public consciousness, even without any real assistance being given to them by the Dinosaur Press. Yet with much of that attention centered on Benghazi, the AP/Fox News phone records, the NSA snooping and the IRS’ indulgences and transgressions, the scandal which is remaining below the radar is the Kathleen Sebelius/HHS Shakedown.
And of all the current “Big” Scandals, I believe THIS to be the most indicative of how Obama’s Administration operates on a daily basis.

(***NOTE: This is a re-post from last year.
But in light of the overwhelming amount of State Sanctioned, tyrannical behavior cascading from the White House recently, it seemed appropriate to revisit this line of thinking.)
I was re-reading an old article by Dennis Prager called “The Bigger the Government, the Smaller the Individual” and I was struck at the wisdom of that phrase. It made me think of the many things which we’ve covered here over the past few months, certainly, but it also reminded me of several other items I’d recently seen and how Conservatism (both political & religious) is connected by that singular concept.

I love car rides.
Even as a kid, I enjoyed just getting into the family vehicle. It always seemed to be filled with such promise: a trip to the store, or a hockey game, or maybe the open highway for a family vacation. The cars were bigger back then: more comfortable and built for long land voyages. Plus, since Mom or Dad was driving, I didn’t need to be too concerned about where we were going. I wasn’t nervously glancing at the road atlas, or calculating our fuel levels. Instead, I trusted that the destination would be entertaining, or educational, or wonderful in some way.
Blissfully ignorant, I relied totally on the beneficence of my parents to get us there unscathed, wherever and whatever “there” may be.

Gonna take you on a quick trip in the ‘Way-back Machine‘, so stick with me for a moment.
Back in 2009, I was Sales Manager for a Fortune 500 insurance company. President Obama had just begun his Class Warfare antics when, after passing his ill-advised stimulus and bailouts, he made this statement:
“You can’t take a trip to Las Vegas, or down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers’ dime…”
Even though the statement was supposedly directed at recipients of the Government handouts (TARP, etc.,..), when taken in the context of the political climate it rightfully terrified every executive in corporate America.
