Somehow, a “narrative” of scandal will be a problem in November for …Republicans?

Liberal Media Bias

Occasionally, you almost have to tip your hat to the utter shamelessness of the Left.

Almost.

Recently, NY Republican Michael Rep. Michael Grimm was indicted for tax fraud, and while CNN wondered aloud if this would adversely affect the Repubs in the upcoming election, ABC’s headline said that the GOP was “stuck” with Grimm. Neither report was flattering, yet neither was all that awful, either.

However, appearing on MSNBC, the Washington Post‘s Dana Milbank took both lines of thinking somewhat …further:

“…But even beyond his seat, you now have the Congressman who’s out because he bought cocaine. Here in Washington, you’ve got the kissing Congressman. You’ve got this now. It begins to develop a sort of narrative that may make it trouble for some of his Republican colleagues

Warning to the #GOP: Don’t let the Left rewrite history, again…

The Democrats can’t say they weren’t warned:

But that’s not how they view/spin it.

No, no. Years of warnings, the rise of the Tea Party, countless townhall meetings, Scott Brown’s election, the 2010 mid-terms, and even the government shutdown itself weren’t warnings, but rather “sabotage“.

And they’re serious. In Liberal/Leftist/Democrat parlance, somehow standing in the middle of the road and screaming that the bridge is out is now the moral equivalent of cutting your brake lines.

Oh, yeah: all those problems with #Obamacare? The Lies? It’s TOTALLY the fault of …Republicans.

AHhh, HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha……………!!!!!

Oh, wait. What? No! They’re serious? Really?!?

But that’s …insane!

(via Mary Katherine Ham at HotAir.com) – “…You have a friend who is a lifelong couch potato with diabetes and a heart problem. He declares his intention to run a marathon with no training whatsoever. You advise him against this, fearing he won’t be able to handle it and hurt himself.

He runs the marathon, almost dies at Mile 16, and then blames you for not carrying him 26.2 miles.

This is the GOP’s obligation to Obamacare, a law it had no hand in passing because it was afraid of exactly this meltdown. …”

Post-shutdown, it’s on: the #TeaParty vs. the GOP

Choices 444

So, …what now?

Yes, the Government Shutdown is over, and the Federal Leviathan is lurching forward once again. Of course, this is cause for wild celebration among the Left, even as they continue to blithely impugn the motives of their political opponents.

But the problems that brought this confrontation about are still here: rising debt (thus the necessity of raising the Debt Ceiling yet again), grossly expanding government, and ever-reducing freedoms. A weakening dollar, burgeoning entitlements and continued unemployment. Full-time jobs being replaced by part-time ones, and the advent of the “glitch”-riddled Obamacare.

All this and more was (and remains) the reason so many are insisting we need to change our ways, or perish.

Clearly Their Mental State is Not Normal

A brilliant post from our buddy Greg, over at “In Veritate Fortitudo“…..

Ann Coulter vs. John Stossel and a room full of Libertarians (VIDEO)

This just showed up on HotAir, and Erika is right: this is like a cage match where you want to root for both combatants.

I come down more on the Coulter side of things, but I need to highlight one important point about the Libertarian youngsters in attendance. They are vastly different from your usual college-aged attendees in such a setting, in that for the most part they are very polite. Compare that to the majority of Planned Parenthood or Global Warming confabs at your local University, where the sights and sounds are NSFW, …at best.

Even though she’s outnumbered approximately 1,000-to-1, Coulter responds extremely well throughout (no surprise there). She’s a bomb-thrower, and doesn’t disappoint here; heck, that’s her career. However, she seems to relish these opportunities, and it would behoove the Republican Party to engage with Libertarians more often in this manner. At their heart, there are more similarities than differences between the two camps, and the sooner they both recognize that, the better.

Coulter vs Stossel

Bill Whittle – at the David Horowitz dinner

There are few people in the public eye today who articulate the Conservative message as ably & as passionately as Bill Whittle. He says what most of us are thinking, …only much, much better.

This particular speech is the political equivalent of ‘Braveheart‘ and ‘Remember the Titans‘, combined.

Turn up the volume and Enjoy….

In Lawsuits We Trust

Stick with me here: there’s good news towards the end of this.

Every year there are thousands upon thousands of lawsuits filed in the United States, with many of them being patently ridiculous. According to facesoflawsuitabuse.org, here are some of the most outrageous ones from 2011 alone:

•A kidnapped couple is sued by a convict who kidnapped them because they did not aid him in evading police.

•A mother is sued by her adult children because she sent cards that did not include gifts and because she allegedly plays favorites.

•A woman files a lawsuit asking for $5 million after she disagrees with a store over an 80 cent refund she was supposed to receive.

•A mother files a lawsuit against an exclusive preschool because of her child’s college prospects.

•A man sued Procter & Gamble over toothpaste left in the tube.

•A woman files a lawsuit because of a movie trailer that does not have enough driving in it. The trailer the movie was for? ‘Drive.’

The entire funny-yet-depressing list can be found here.

Now the truly troubling aspect of all this is that these companies had to defend themselves in court, usually racking up significant costs. Those costs get put right back into the price of their products, and we all end up paying more. Isn’t that great?

Why is nothing being done about this by our elected leaders? What about some ideas from the folks who always seem to be “fixing” everything, other than things which actually need fixing?

No more calls; we have a winner! An individual state did take a significant step towards curbing this insanity.

From tennessean.com:

Tennessee Republicans have a message for those filing civil lawsuits: You better make sure your facts are in order or you could be on the hook for up to $10,000 in attorney fees for the other side.

Lawmakers last week approved legislation that would penalize people who file lawsuits that are later dismissed as baseless. They would have to pay up to $10,000 to cover court costs and their opponent’s attorney fees.

“It is a very limited loser-pays bill,” said Rep. Vance Dennis, R-Savannah, the bill’s House sponsor. “It goes to purely frivolous lawsuits, lawsuits that don’t have any merit.”

I read that and got a little verklempt. It is possible to look at a problem and pass legislation that might help fix the problem! God bless those crazy, knuckle-dragging, bible-clinging GOP Tennesseans for bringing some common-sense to the courtrooms of America, or at least Tennessee. For the moment, that makes one significant problem addressed….

………and at least a million to go.

Hey, it’s a start.
