Just as he has for the past 5 years, President “YouCanKeepYourPlan” Obama believes that no matter what he says, as long as he says it over and over and over again, it’ll somehow magically come to pass. Or at the very least, that we’ll believe him just long enough for him to get his way.
That was an interesting if misguided theory at the advent of his tenure. But now, with the country trillions further in debt and no end in sight, it’s now more accurately to be considered either “dangerous” or “delusional”.
His “Just Words” speech should have informed one-&-all, right then, that words were all he had…
Instead, it was hailed as incontrovertible proof of his future magnificence as president. And yet, after his “uhmm-errr-ahhhhh” fest in yesterday’s press conference, to say that he’s lost whatever shred of magic or credibility he once had would be a galactic understatement, at best.
A better description of it would go somewhere along these lines:
Plenty to cover here, so let’s go through these in no particular order:
I’ve spent my entire career in Professional Sales, and long ago learned the golden rule of “Under Promise, Over Deliver”.
Because when you do the opposite, as the President did so spectacularly with his “You Can Keep Your Plan...” schtick, you merely guarantee that at some point down the road, people are going to be very, very mad at you.
Never mind that his fix basically amounts to asking the insurance industry to switch gears in the MIDDLE OF THEIR CANCELLATIONS which OBAMACARE CREATED, in order to cover Barack’s posterior. You can also ignore how completely unrealistic and unworkable that would be, just from a logistical perspective. You can even ignore the state laws they’d have to break to do such a thing, a mere 6 weeks before the end of the year.
Just focus on the press conference itself. If you watched it, you may have initially wondered if this was actually an SNL skit. There’s no possible way that it could have been plannedto be this horrible:
It’s no secret that I’m pretty critical of President Obama.
But in the spirit of being fair-minded, I sincerely try to give him kudos for anything he does which is positive. For instance, I certainly commend him for keeping ‘Gitmo‘ open (against his will, of course, but still...), and bombing the heck out of terrorists with our drones overseas, and ….hmmm, actually, that may be it.
Regardless, I still look every day to see if there is some new way, some how, where I can give Obama some credit, and yesterday I FOUND one!!!
Let me tell you about it…
Like most of us, I was at work when the President spoke on Monday, so I didn’t get a chance to listen to his remarks or even read the transcript until late last night. I needn’t have bothered: I could have guessed at 85% of it in advance. It was deplorable in its entirety: a smug, supercilious man, repeatedly and brazenly lying to his audience (us) as he cast blame & aspersions onto everyone …but himself, of course.
