Anti-gun Zombies continuing their attack on our Schools…

Our schools have long been Leftist training centers, but they’ve recently taken the next step in their overt brainwashing of our children. Time after time, they are reinforcing the precept that all guns are evil, regardless of context or form.

No need to rehash the myriad older examples: every day seems to bring forth new (and worse) ones, which only serve to further prove my point.

The Tyranny of Arbitrary Laws

Is the United States still the “Land Of The Free”? Well, most of us certainly go through our day believing we are.

Part of that belief is an assumption that, as long as we don’t try to do something wrong, illicit, or illegal, we won’t run afoul of the law. We also assume that if someone DOES blatantly break the law, they’ll be punished for it. Quickly and fairly, those people will be carted off to jail.

monopoly117In years past both of those may have been safe assumptions, yet increasingly they’re no longer the case.

We’re seeing reports almost daily: from the incarceration of the 19-year-old young man who cracked a joke (in extremely bad taste, I agree, but still …just a joke) on Facebook, to the arrest of the 8th-grade kid who refused to remove his NRA t-shirt, to the non-arrest of David Gregory when he openly flouted the actual gun laws of Washington DC late last year.

When kids are threatened with jail for merely wearing clothes, and TV personalities are excused for breaking the law because prosecuting them “would not promote public safety…”, we’ve established two sets of laws:

In NYC, it may soon be a Crime to …describe a Criminal?

Blindfolded NYC police

(photo courtesy of New York Post)

When I first heard about the Community Safety Act last year, I assumed it wouldn’t amount to anything and would quickly blow over. Back then I reasoned that surely even New York City wasn’t stupid enough to tie the hands of their police to that degree.

If there are issues that exist with the City’s Police Department itself, fine: go in and suspend/fire the bad cops. Heck, fire an entire precinct, if need be. But any legislation which completely neutered the police force would result in far more harm than any potential good.

So yeah, I figured cooler heads would prevail here, and that’d be that.

*sigh*    When will I ever learn?

So…, where do Police stand on the 2nd Amendment Debate?

Unless you’ve been away on a retreat since before Christmas, or perhaps been abducted by aliens, you’ve probably noticed that the debate over “Gun Control” has been front & center in the news for months now.

gun-right

The reason behind the flood of stories is terrifyingly simple: the tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary.  Twenty children and 6 adults lost their lives that day.  Innocent victims of a deranged man, who, reportedly targeted THAT school because of revenge over incidents of bullying when he was a student there.  A plan made more possible by the fact that Mr. Lanza KNEW the school was a Gun Free Zone, and he’d be met with little-to-NO resistance.

That last little tidbit seems to have been conveniently FORGOTTEN by President Obama, Senator Reid, et al.  And, in the true “Alinsky” fashion of never letting a crisis go to waste, the Left has made this tragic event the focal point of their attack against the 2nd Amendment:

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

And attack, Obama-&-Company have done.

ICE Agent facing punishment for …arresting Illegal Immigrant

This came to light over the weekend, and I saw it on Fox News. I like to have at least two sources for an article, in order to compare the reports. Unfortunately, ….I’m still waiting for someone else to cover it.

So, here’s the story:

FOX NEWS — Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., is demanding answers after a report surfaced that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent is facing punishment for arresting an illegal immigrant.

The unidentified agent could face a three-day suspension after he arrested a 35-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico who had as many as 10 traffic violations. He was nabbed in Newark, Del.

The agent was ordered by supervisors to release the individual because he was not a “priority target.” When the officer balked, he was threatened with a three-day suspension and the illegal alien was let go.

“The actions that it appears were taken by your agency send a message to agents in the field that they will be punished for doing their duty and enforcing the law,” Sessions wrote in an letter to ICE Director John Morton and obtained exclusively by Fox News.

A spokesperson for the Newark Police Dept. told Fox News that had an American citizen been stopped under the same circumstances – they would have been jailed. Sessions said that is a troubling revelation.

“Federal law enforcement should certainly not be giving illegal aliens more preferential treatment that is afforded American citizens,” Sessions wrote. “Your agency’s apparent treatment of the criminal alien sends the troubling message that the demands of public safety are trumped by the desire for reduced deportations of those deemed ‘not presidential priorities.’”

Sessions is demanding that ICE provide a detailed account of the events involving the agent along with an explanation of why the illegal alien was released and allowed to pose a threat to public safety.

Word of the agent’s pending punishment for simply doing his job has outraged ICE agents.

“They’re punishing law enforcement officers who are just trying to uphold U.S. law,” said Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council. Crane is a union representative acting on the unidentified officer’s behalf.

The officer under fire is an 18-year law enforcement and military veteran.

“They’re willing to take away their retirement, their job, their ability to support their families in favor of someone who is here illegally and violating our laws,” Crane told Fox News. “Right now (the Obama administration) is standing in the way of us enforcing the law by either taking a disciplinary action, threats of disciplinary action, or refusing to sign off on charging documents to put an illegal alien into immigration proceedings so a judge can sort it out.”

“If a law enforcement officer can’t perform routine enforcement functions, what do we have a law enforcement agency for?,” Crane wondered.

So, our immigration agents aren’t supposed to arrest illegals? This is so head-shakingly bizarre, even I’m stunned.

Then, I read the account from the arresting ICE officer, and ended up even more blown away. Also from Fox News:

The individual was not their criminal alien target. However, he was a 35-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico who had ten previous traffic violations – including driving without a license.

“The officer made the determination using prosecutorial discretion that he would charge (the suspect) as being in the United States illegally and let the judge sort it out,” Crane said.

“That’s our place in the universe,” he said. “We’re supposed to make arrests and let the judges and the legal system sort through the details.”

Instead, two supervising officers, including the acting field director, intervened and ordered the officer to release the illegal immigrant. The acting field director sat down with the illegal and explained that he was going to be let go because he was not a “presidential priority,” Crane said.

In essence, the supervising officers took on the role of a public defender.

Over and over, we’ve seen Obama and his band of stooges flout the law, ignore court orders (unless they are favorable) and/or doing through executive orders what they can’t get done through normal channels. This has become the new normal.

In the case of illegal immigration, we now have a de facto new rule: illegal immigrants have MORE rights than legal citizens, since they seemingly can’t be arrested for being here illegally or for violations which occurred after they “arrived” here. Wonderful news, eh? Basically, we have given them diplomatic immunity. As Yakov Smirnoff might say, “What a country…”

There is a storm brewing, folks. I feel in my bones there will be a huge referendum against this Administration’s band of thugs in November. There’s an interesting post which articulates exactly why I believe that will be the case (which I’ll cover later this week), but rest assured: if we do everything in our power to oust these cretins from their positions of power, it’ll happen.

Believe it.

RoboCop is coming to a town near you

Am I the only one who’s a might weirded out by this?

From Phoebe’s Detention Room:

The Federal Aviation Administration has allowed several police departments to use drones across the U.S. They are controlled from a remote location and use infrared sensors and high-resolution cameras.

Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas told The Daily that his department is considering using rubber bullets and tear gas on its drone.

“Those are things that law enforcement utilizes day in and day out and in certain situations it might be advantageous to have this type of system on the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle),” McDaniel told The Daily.

I, for one, am not thrilled with this news. The army of cameras which snapped my photo and sent me a speeding ticket were bad enough. Now we’re going to have flying robots in the sky armed with rubber bullets and tear gas? OK, everyone that thinks that we have nothing to worry about here, please raise your hand.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

You just know that some bright boy somewhere is going to get the idea of incorporating Artificial Intelligence™ into one of these babies eventually (hey, I watch sci-fi movies, so I know these things).

And as soon as THAT happens, I’m gonna hear the words, “You are illegally parked on private property. You have 20 seconds to move your vehicle“, and I won’t even get the chance to say “I told ya’ so”.
