The “Millennials” are coming: Be afraid, …be very afraid

A new national poll of Americans ages 18 to 29 (aka “Millennials”) was completed by The Reason Foundation and the Rupe Foundation, and Nick Gillespie wrote about in the pages of Time. And after reading through all 100+ pages of it, all I can say is:

…we’re doomed.

Because paradoxically, even though this generation is the most educated in our country’s history, far too many of ’em apparently haven’t a clue what they’re talking about.

The last time we checked in on our Leftist Mob, they were calling for the head of Mozilla’s CEO, and we all recall how THAT turned out, don’t we?

Well, they’re back, and just as outrageously outraged as ever. This time, the Perpetually Perturbed Provocateurs got their knickers knotted over (what else?) someone’s opinion which dared run counter to the latest Leftist Dogma.

The column was not well received by some, or even, as a great many of the histrionic responses would indicate, well understood. I received the following press release yesterday, headlined: “87,000 Call on The Washington Post to Address Sexism, Fire George Will.”

“Racism”: the Left’s favorite (and often ONLY) card to play

We’ve all observed the wide-ranging scope of issues which have been termed “racist” by the Left before, and yet they never seem to adjust their playbook. 

Most recently this was evident in the hue and cry over Obama’s pick for head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Debo Adegbile. That he was defeated with the help of seven Democrats made it only slightly problematic for the race peddlers:

(via Investor’s Business Daily) – In a stinging political defeat and a sign even Democrats are getting fed up with the White House’s in-your-face radicalism, the Senate has rejected Obama’s controversial nominee for civil rights chief.

Maureen Faulkner ended up visiting individually with key Democrats before the vote to plead with them to honor her slain husband, Philly cop Daniel Faulkner, and not reward Adegbile for what she termed the “revolting” work he did on behalf of his killer — Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal.

The appeals worked. Several Democrats switched sides, including Sens. Chris Coons, D-Del.; Bob Casey, D-Pa.; Mark Pryor, D-Ark.; Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D.; Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.; Joe Donnelly, D-Ind.; and John Walsh, D-Mont.

Yep, Adegbile didn’t get approved and Reid’s own party made it happen. No matter. We were still instructed that this was the work of the Left’s most closely held shibboleth, “Republican Racism!!”:

Why are there no “Liberal Browncoats”?

I’ve followed John Hayward’s writing since his early days over on HotAir.com, when he went by “Doctor Zero”. He specialized in wonderful and inventive pieces, seamlessly melding pop culture and classic references into posts that made me wish like crazy I’d written them.

Last week was definitely one such post.

Here’s just the first part:

“…A few days ago, I was chatting with a friend of liberal persuasion about the cult-classic TV series “Firefly” – which, particularly in its concluding theatrical film, is one of pop culture’s strongest parables about libertarianism and rebellion against authority.  If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it was a science-fiction program about a space-faring band of lovable rogues, some of whom fought in a losing rebellion against their totalitarian government.  The rebels were known as “Browncoats,” which also became a nickname for fans of the show.

IRS, #Benghazi, and Bridgegate: …Guess which one the Media thinks is the only REAL scandal?

The media has been desperate for months now to take the country’s focus off of President Obama’s policy failures, his floundering economy and the sick joke of Obamacare.

So ever since Christie’s ‘Bridgegate’ story broke last week, the Media has behaved with their usual restraint.

Now allow me to clarify: I have no problem with the press investigating ANY politician for practically ANYTHING. My only issue is with their attempt to simultaneously cast President Obama’s entire panoply of scandals as mere trumped-up nuisances, even as they portray Bridgegate as a modern-day Khmer Rouge.

MSNBC has officially entered a new level of adulation and fan worship in the Age Of Obama, and my only hope is that it isn’t contagious.

To be sure, they’ve always been willing to say anything, make any kind of ridiculous comparison or analogy, in order to justify their worldview. And their snide self-righteousness has always made it that much more stomach-churning.

That’s why they’re significantly worse than an actual State Run Media, since they do all of it without being told.

They’re cultists, posing as journalists, acting as government mouthpieces.

But this is a new level, an entirely new pinnacle, even for them.

Much has been made of the woeful Obamacare Exchange website, and rightfully so: it’s almost inconceivably bad. But it’s not the website that we should be focusing on, really, but what the website (and ultimately Obamacare itself) actually represents. Namely, the overwhelming hubris which so completely defines the Leftists/Statists who are now in charge of our nation. 

As we detailed yesterday, the newest White House/Liberal Media talking point on Obamacare is, essentially, “Your old plans were junk, and you should be GLAD to be rid of them”.

Or, shorter: “We know better than you”.

And yet as evidenced by the initial roll-out, how much could they know? Obviously, not nearly as much as they THINK they know.

DETROIT’s War on Small Business: Making a horrible situation …even worse

As our economy continues to struggle, opening up our own business has crossed the minds of many of us. However, if you happen to live in Detroit, you’d better think twice (or even three or four times) before you decide to make a go of it in Motown these days.

Today, Detroit is facing issues largely of their own making, such as high unemployment (+18%), crushing debt, rampant crime, and blight. But if you were thinking that an aggressive, pro-business, let’s-all-pitch-in-together attitude would prevail in City Hall, …forget it.
