Queen Pelosi: “The Beatings will Continue until the Morale Improves…” ***

***(…or something to that effect

Last week I highlighted why the “Fiscal Cliff!” would now become part of our permanent landscape.

For anyone that (somehow) doubted my conclusions then, I give you a quote from “San Fran Nan”, courtesy of CBS’ Face the Nation:

The Fiscal Cliff is Dead; long live the Fiscal Cliff!!

Ahhhh, ‘Change’….

It seems that the new “Normal” in the age of Obama consists not only of chronically high Unemployment, +$1 Trillion annual deficits, and criticism of even his cabinet members being labeled out-of-bounds, but now will also include the omnipresent fear of the next Fiscal Cliff:

Wait a sec: we can’t even get through 2 days after the 1st “Fiscal Cliff” is allegedly settled, and the Left is already signalling that they’re just getting warmed up?

And yet logically, shouldn’t all the Lefties, and certainly President Obama, be …happy right now? Contented, even? Just a little?

House passes Fiscal Cliff deal

As much as I’d like to say the entire thing stinks, that would be unfair. It’s merely that this most recent “deal with the devil” just MOSTLY stinks. It’s a tribute to the convoluted-by-design nature of our politics that there could be this many aspects (both positive and negative) in one measly bill.

Still, there are a number of things to consider, and Mary Katherine Ham covers several of ’em, such as:

Beware of RINO’s, drinking “TEA”…

A good assessment of the recent goings-on up at Capitol Hill…

(Our thanks to ‘Conservative Sue’ over at the Red Pill Report)

Well, the votes have been counted, and it appears the Democrats and Republicans have now passed a ‘fiscal cliff’ deal that represents a big tax increase with no significant long term spending cuts.  Outspoken critics of this deal include Senators Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and other Tea Party favorites,

What Speaker John Boehner has managed to accomplish with his adept political deal-making skill is to get the GOP blamed for the biggest tax increase in the last two decades while simultaneously increasing the deficit and kicking the spending cuts down the road for ‘another day‘ that, most agree, will never come.  And, to add insult to injury, the mainstream media is in full propaganda mode blaming the teaparty for obstructionism and a ‘bad deal‘ even though the teaparty has been pretty much united against this proposal from the start.

What does the GOP stand for?  Limited…

We can’t eliminate Government Waste, because Waste is what Government DOES

If you ever wanted a perfect example of the waste that’s inherent in Government, this is it.

government-waste

From Milwaukee’s Journal Sentinel Online:

The Social Development Commission’s $6.3 million weatherization program is running $1 million under budget, which means the agency might have to return the money to the state and lose $125,000 in administrative costs, finance director Bill Koch said Thursday.

To try to keep from accumulating a surplus, Koch asked the commission’s human resources committee to consider an incentive program for the weatherization staff to try to increase production and get projects in the pipeline sooner so that more units can be completed by June when the grant year ends.

First of all, you have an agency that’s **gasp** running under budget. In the private sector, this would be what we call a “positive”. But not in Big Government world, no sir.

Nope, if the SDC (Social Development Commission) can’t figure out a way to spend all the grant money, rather than being congratulated or even getting a bonus for efficiency, they’d have to return $125,000 of their stipend/fee (aka – “administrative costs”).

Ummmm…what?

The Idiocy of Tax “Fairness” (w/ video)

It appears that President Obama is committed to taking our country over the Fiscal Cliff. We’ve covered what the fiscal cliff IS already, so I won’t rehash it here. Instead I wish to simply review, again, the inherent problems with the President’s proposal.

First of all, here’s what it looks like:

Obama and the militant Left want to punish the wealthiest Americans by making them pay the ultimate nebulous amount: “their fair share”. However, such a combination of new taxes & add’l spending will result in that “fairness” costing our economy $1.61 TRILLION.

Democrats’ Negotiating style: “Heads I WIN, Tails you LOSE”

I’ve linked to Guy Benson’s blog a number of times, and enjoy it when he fills in for Hugh Hewitt occasionally. Smart, quick, and rather self-deprecating, Benson covers the political scene in DC as well as anyone, and easily better than most.

This post came out yesterday at Townhall.com, where he serves as the political editor.

If you don’t normally read his column, or do so only occasionally, I’d politely suggest you make it a habit. You’ll be far better informed as a result, I promise…

“Negotiating,” …Democrat-Style

Guy Benson   –by Guy Benson; Political Editor, Townhall.com

The White House has been hyping its #My2K Twitter hashtag in an attempt to galvanize supporters to contact their Congressional representatives to demand action to avert the fiscal cliff.  The administration estimates that unless Congress moves, the average family’s tax bill will jump by more than $2,000, starting on the first of January.

The implication, of course, is that Republicans are once again standing in the way of resolving this problem.  Show of hands — as the media breathlessly follows every minor twist and turn of these negotiations, how many of you have seen this fact reported?

Math made easy: (Obama + Fiscal Cliff = we ALL lose)

This just in: 42% of Americans are idiots.

Whoa, that’s just a tad harsh, you say? Give me a couple minutes and I’ll explain what I mean.

Lost among the election results and the sex-scandal aspect of Benghazi is a very real disaster: the Fiscal Cliff is coming. If you aren’t up to speed on that term, let me explain quickly. “Fiscal Cliff” refers to a 1-2 combination of HUGE tax increases and deep spending cuts:

  1. The tax increases would roll back our current tax rates (aka: the “Bush Tax cuts”) which have been around for a decade, having been passed in 2001 & 2003.
  2. The spending cuts will gut the defense budget, and are the result of the budget sequestration deal negotiated in 2011.
