Just as he has for the past 5 years, President “YouCanKeepYourPlan” Obama believes that no matter what he says, as long as he says it over and over and over again, it’ll somehow magically come to pass. Or at the very least, that we’ll believe him just long enough for him to get his way.
That was an interesting if misguided theory at the advent of his tenure. But now, with the country trillions further in debt and no end in sight, it’s now more accurately to be considered either “dangerous” or “delusional”.
“Mr. Virtual President” has returned, and today he’s discussing one of the most troubling issues that we have: Entitlements.
We’ve come a long way from our country’s beginnings in this area. Self-sufficiency was once a uniform point of pride for our citizenry, a virtue that didn’t begin to deteriorate until the advent of Social Security. And then the floodgates opened: Medicare and Medicaid; SSDI, Food Stamps, and widow’s benefits being paid out to unmarried mothers. Unemployment. And on, and on…
A President who honestly believed in the capability and capacity of the American people, and had the strength of his own convictions, would take steps to correct this. And the very first step would be to honestly discuss it, as is seen below:
I was looking for election coverage Tuesday night, but I kept finding movies instead. First, the sequel to ‘Titanic‘ was on, and before I turned it off it looked like they were gonna try to hit the iceberg from the other side this time. Also on was a remake of the classic ‘Pinocchio‘, but this time the little wooden boy decided to remainon Pleasure Island where he could eat, drink and smoke for free, despite the now obvious signs that it’s turning him into a donkey.
Oh, wait a sec… all of that WAS the election coverage! Silly me, I got confused between the channels.
It was an easy mistake to make. After all, America has somehow decided it doesn’t care HOW many trillions of debt we rack up: we want our free food-stamps-and-phones, darn it, and we re-elected the guy promising them, and more.
