To Our Former Readers…

hello-again 3

Prolonged silence on a blog connotes life change–positive or disastrous–or simply loss of interest in maintaining a presence.  I (GBL) implied, in my last couple of posts, and further explained in comments, that my husband and I were in the midst of crisis. My brother, JTR, happened to experience a huge (and wonderful) job change at around the same time.

Just to update you:  our granddaughter, about whom I have written several times, is back with us. There are still tensions and uncertainties, about which I cannot write here. If you are a pray-er, we would appreciate prayers. But we are overjoyed to have our girl back where she belongs.

Meanwhile, JTR is busily loving his job and his wife and his sons…and not in that particular order, I’m sure!  Will we ever get back to this blog? I honestly don’t know. But we wanted to at least say, “Hi! Happy New Year! We’re not dead.”

For what it’s worth!

How have YOU all been?

  2. Well….I’ve been having to learn how to deal with JTR all over again….so things have been R-O-U-G-H! LOL!

GBL, you, your family, and especially your precious granddaughter have been in my and my wife’s prayers since this situation with her arose, and they will most certainly continue. For now, I leave you with this thought:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
    Ephesians 6:10 – 17 (NIV)

    • Admit it: you’re a slave-driver, PGH!!

And yes, for those who don’t know: “PGH” is once again my boss.
Which is a very good thing….

      • livinrightinpgh

If I am such a slave-driver, then why are YOU enjoying a business trip in the warm, sunny south, while I, on the other hand, dealt with -4 degree wind chill today??? HMMMMMM????

BTW: I prefer to think of myself more as your “Associate at Work”…..

        • After 20+ years of working together, off-&-on, “associates” is the better term, I agree. But you’re the associate that can sign THIS associate’s paycheck. Just sayin’….

  3. Thanks so much for the updates…. Please tell JTR that libslayer says hello. I completely understand the silence. I took a month off social media and the longer I was off the easier it was to live without it. God bless you all and have a great year.

    • Right back at ya, Slayer! I just started back on Twitter a few days ago, as I can do it from my phone.

With any luck, we’ll be blogging with some semblance of regularity before too long. It won’t be every day like it was for over two years, …more like once/week, or maybe even once every TWO weeks.

But still, that’d be something. Just gotta try to find the time….., somewhere.

  4. Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Lifting your families up GBL and JTR, may you be secure in Christ Jesus!

    • It’s been MUCH too long, Teach!!

      We’re back, …kinda.
Still trying to figure out exactly HOW we’re going to find time to do this again, but we’ll get there eventually.

Like I told Tannngl, it won’t be every day: more like once every week or two.
But we’ve missed y’all quite a bit, so we’ll figure out something.
      Promise!

      • Hey brother! 😀 You all just do your thing… pop in when you can and live life to the fullest! I’m not very active here at WP any more either… it is what it is… a season for everything. God bless you and GBL…

  5. Thank you so much for your updates! I am so happy your baby is back. Will continue prayers for your son and you all. If you can, say ‘hi!’ to JTR for me. I miss both of your blogs but fully understand absence.
The Christian family of God doesn’t change just because of physical (or internet!) absence.

    • No need, Tannngl: I’m right here…
I just started to look at Twitter again: first time in months.
And with any luck, I’m going to try to put up a post once a week, or so.

The new job is wonderful, but it takes up a MUCH larger percentage of my time and mental capacity than my previous position.
But I miss blogging, and I miss you guys, too.

God-willing, you’ll hear from us both again quite soon.
      -JTR

  6. Working for PGH! Sounds great. And if it challenges you, I know you love it! Had a job or 10 like that and it gives you such energy!
Glad to hear you’ll be back.
    I’ll be watching!

  7. thanks for the update, best to all and looking forward to more 🙂

    • Thanks, Kristina! We miss it, but sometimes life intrudes… Already have one in the works, but have to find time to flesh it out.
And THEN I need to stop by YOUR blog. 😉

      See ya soon!

  8. Prayers to GBL and family. Hope things work out good for everyone concerned with regards to your grand daughter. That can oft times be a sticky wicket.

JTR, great to see you’re still alive, lol. Blogging gets tough with a new job, especially if there is a lot of travel involved. I just started a new job and my blogging has curtailed considerably. I still do twitter because I can do that from my phone, but haven’t yet figured out how to blog on the darn thing. Most times, I’m too tired to even get my computer out when I finally get to the hotel at night.

    • Hey, Mr. G!!!
Yep, I’m still alive, and doin’ great. Just couldn’t learn the new gig AND pay attention to the blog, so something had to give.
Doing a fair bit of traveling, and I have an hour commute each way, when I’m in town. No complaints, though: I enjoy it and the family has adjusted nicely.
But like you, I can’t blog from my phone, either.

I’ll stop by your place soon, ….probably tonight, actually. Give my regards to Phoebes, and I’ll talk to you soon!

  9. So glad you guys are back 🙂
