A short-but-powerful post in defense of having/raising children, which ends up as a tribute to marriage itself. ¡Bravo!

I think someone’s being just a little too sensitive here. I can’t speak for Robertson, not sure I’ve ever even heard the man. It does sound like he has his cart in front of the horse. However, I do believe that if you can’t afford kids you shouldn’t have them. I also believe that the dollars a low-income family receives from the taxpayer well should not go up with every new birth or adoption.
I have mixed feelings about these children. First of all, they do not look like ragamuffins. Just because they don’t have fancy clothes like the kids have today doesn’t mean a thing. I grew up in a family of 7 and we had nothing.
My father however worked his butt off despite his emotional turmoil left from being a prisoner of war during WW II We had nothing, no pop, not potato chips, sometimes cookies, no car but that wasn’t a problem. We did have food on the table – not the best at times but we never complained. We did not live on food stamps and did not get money from the government. However, some folks today don’t care that we give them money to live and are too lazy to get a job of any kind. These type of folks should think twice about having children. My dad was proud of us and all his kids.
