(VIDEO) Seattle Mayor attempts to defend his “Gun Free Zone” campaign

Below is a video follow-up to our post from a few days back: “Local businesses advertise they are ‘Gun Free Zones’. What could go wrong?“…

Gun Free zone 747646In this interview, Greta repeatedly asks him if he agrees that the “Gun Free Zone” signs make these businesses more of a target for criminals (gee, ya’ think?). Each time, Mayor McGinn responds to her questioning as if he has a hearing disorder, and we’re treated to various versions of “businesses have the right to refuse service to people with a gun”, …which, you’ll kindly note, is not an actual answer to the question posed.

#Obamacare is making us a “part-time” nation

Did you hear about the new Obamacare Video contest being sponsored by the HHS? It’s the Federal Government’s newest plan to reach “…younger Americans who are skeptical of the need for health coverage…“.

If I had a vote, I’d declare Lisa Benson at Townhall.com the winner right now:

Obamacare - Part time workers 3

And if you had ANY doubts, Ms. Benson is right on the money here:

You may be surprised to learn this INCREDIBLY FAMOUS GUY is a Christian AND a Capitalist…

From the:  “If you only read, listen to, or watch the MSM, then you probably missed this story” department.

THIS man is famous. WORLD famous. His birth name is Paul David Hewson.

You may well ask:  “Who the heck is Paul David Hewson”?  Well, perhaps you know him by his more recognized pseudonym:

Bono.

??????????????????????????????

Mr. Hewson (on the far right), pictured with three other dudes I don’t recognize….

Lead Singer for the über rock group, U2.

Activist.

Seriously, it’s hard to imagine anyone who hasn’t heard of him. Even if you never followed the music, you should certainly remember his much heralded and well-reported missions to Africa.

What you MIGHT have missed were 2 recent stories about Bono:  The Christian, and its powerful sequel, Bono:  The Capitalist.

On June 25th, Bono was a guest on the “Focus on the Family” radio program.  The entire interview is definitely worth reading, but this one excerpt stood out to me (emphasis mine):

Jim Daly of FOTF: So often those that struggle with accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior — it’s the idea that He’s the Messiah. In fact, you were asked about that by a journalist. How did you respond to that?

????Bono: Jesus doesn’t let you off the hook. The Scriptures don’t let you off the hook so easily. So, Jesus died on a cross with “King of the Jews,” as the Messiah. In fact, if He’d just given that bit up, you know, [He] would not have had the crucifixion. And Pilate was saying it’s unnecessary. Everyone was, “this is kind of mad.” Because when people say, you know, “good teacher,” “prophet,” “really nice guy,” and this is not how Jesus thought of Himself.

So, you’re left with a challenge in that, which is either: Jesus was who He said He was, or a complete and utter nut case. You have to make a choice on that.

And I believe that Jesus was the Son of God.

Wow…

I’d actually heard about this a few weeks back while listening to our local K-LOVE affiliate. Then I turned on the local news, …then the “other” MSM stations, …Radio, …TV, …

***insert sound of crickets chirping here***

Hmmm, why wouldn’t they report such a thing?

Oh. Yeah:

I guess Bono just didn’t “come out” with the appropriate type of news that fit the predetermined, MSM narrative.

***sigh***

Then one morning, I woke up to the following clip on ‘Fox and Friends’. The actual speech is nearly an hour in length (you can see it all HERE), but this segment really struck me:

Isn’t this news? In our hyper media-ized world, everything a celebrity says, does, wears or buys at the store is news these days. And here we have Bono, …BONO!…, saying in effect that Aid is a stop-gap, only, and Capitalism takes far more people out of poverty than Aid does.

***crickets begin chirping again, louder this time***

No matter.

This message will still get out, whether or not the press ignores it. As a result, some folks will actually be inspired to examine these topics, perhaps for the first time. Minds which have heretofore been closed to the inherent truths of both Christianity and Capitalism will be opened.

And won’t that be A Beautiful Day?

Discouraging Excellence: 9-yr-old reading champ’s success depresses other kids, told he should “step aside”

books 2Tyler Weaver of Hudson Falls, NY, is the five-time consecutive winner of his local library’s reading contest. In this age of increased video-game skills and decreased reading skills, most would agree that such a story should be celebrated. Which is probably why Tyler’s mom contacted the local paper.

And that’s when it all went bad.

The paper called Hudson Falls Public Library Director Marie Gandron for a comment on 9-year-old Tyler’s success, and they got a doozy:

(The Hudson Post-Star) – During a phone call Tuesday to Gandron, the library director said Tyler “hogs” the contest every year and he should “step aside.”

Other kids quit because they can’t keep up,” Gandron said.

Local businesses advertise they are ‘Gun Free Zones’. What could go wrong?

The Anti-2nd Amendment crowd is at it once again, this time agitating for businesses in Seattle to advertise their defenselessness to the whole, wide world.

Yeah, that’ll work out well:

(Seattle’s King5 News) – Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn is partnering with Washington CeaseFire to launch a new program designed to help local businesses become “Gun Free Zones.”

Businesses will be able to opt into the program by visiting  www.washingtonceasefire.org, signing the pledge to participate, and placing a “Gun Free Zone” decal in their window.

“We are here to support businesses that do not wish to have guns on their premises” McGinn said in a statement. “The police department regularly enforces trespass laws when a visitor to a business violates that business’s rules.

We will continue to do so, and I thank these businesses for standing up for the safety of their customers.”

An #NRA/Colion Noir double-shot: “Compromise” and “More Gun Laws”

NRA 55We haven’t linked anything from Mr. Colion Noir for too long, so consider these two videos an apology of sorts.

The first clip concerns the constant bleating from the anti-firearm-folks that 2nd Amendment advocates need to “compromise” more, which is a complete and total laugh. We’ve been compromising for years: when does the Anti-gun movement ever compromise? They legislate away more freedoms, but they never “give-up” anything: they just fail to get everything they demand.

That’s like a mugger only taking 20% of my cash, or just losing my leg in a shark attack.

Suspicious #EPA “waiver” still shrouded in secrecy. But why???

Wanted to update this story from earlier: “The Most Transparent Administration EVER strikes again“.

ethanol - 44444

If you didn’t read that post (and honestly, you probably should…..), the two big questions arising from it were:

  • What was the NAME of the refinery which was singled-out to receive a hugely beneficial waiver from Federal Ethanol renewable fuels requirements, and
  • Why did that refinery, and ONLY that refinery, qualify?

Well, it seems that the Wall Street Journal was able to find 1-out-of-2: we now have a name. Unfortunately, that name doesn’t exactly remove the mystery from this newest demonstration of Obama-era ‘transparency’:

Required to Fight

armor of God“While there is left in you a trace of ill temper, or of vanity, of pride, or of selfishness; while there is left in you a single sin, or germ of sin, you must not rest from the battle.

God does not require from you to be sinless when you come before Him, but He does require you to be unceasing in your perseverance. He does not require that you shall never have fallen, but He does require unwearied efforts.

He does not require you to win, but He does require you to fight.

–Frederick Temple (1821 – 1902)
