Freedom-sapping Regulations and Diktats are just the Govt’s way of “Encouraging” us

The word-of-the-day is courtesy of Merriam-Webster.com:

“DISINGENUOUS“ –  lacking in candor; also : giving a false appearance of simple frankness : calculating.

And with that definition firmly ensconced in your brain, let’s get to a recent quote from our President which has (mysteriously, I know) managed to elude 98% of the Main Stream Media yet again:

(TheHill.com) – President Obama on Friday confronted critics who have opposed his administration’s regulatory efforts to get Americans to use less energy.

“In some cases we’ve actually been criticized that it’s a socialist plot that’s restricting your freedom for us to encourage energy-efficient light bulbs, for example,” he said at a town hall event in Binghamton, N.Y.

“I never understood that but you hear those arguments,” he added.

So, our loquacious Leader is only “encouraging” us to use energy-efficient light bulbs by, in effect, outlawing the incandescent light bulbs which our nation was perfectly happy using?

Oh, of course: that makes much more sense now!

Don’t you see? With the Federal Government having removed, banned, or legislated previous options out of existence, we’re merely being “encouraged” to make a different “Choice”.

It’s similar to how a bank-robber oftentimes “encourages” a teller to fill his bag with money. I mean, it’s not like the teller HAS to do what he says, right?

I’ve previously pointed out that the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which was originally signed by Dubya, is the one signature I resent of his more than any other. But on George’s worst day, he’d never have tried to portray what he was doing as simply an “encouragement”.

No, chutzpah on that level is the unique province of our current “Nudger-in-Chief”.

But I’ll credit the Viscount of Verbiage with one thing: Obama is right about the “socialism” part. According to Merriam-Webster, what he’s doing now (and certainly in this specific example) is absolutely not socialism:

“FASCISM“ – often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition. 

Yeah, …that’s much better.
