Did you hear about the new Obamacare Video contest being sponsored by the HHS? It’s the Federal Government’s newest plan to reach “…younger Americans who are skeptical of the need for health coverage…“.
If I had a vote, I’d declare Lisa Benson at Townhall.com the winner right now:
And if you had ANY doubts, Ms. Benson is right on the money here:
Analysis: Obamacare, tepid U.S. growth fuel part-time hiring
(Reuters.com) – U.S. businesses are hiring at a robust rate. The only problem is that three out of four of the nearly 1 million hires this year are part-time and many of the jobs are low-paid.
Faltering economic growth at home and abroad and concern that President Barack Obama’s signature health care law will drive up business costs are behind the wariness about taking on full-time staff, executives at staffing and payroll firms say.
Employers say part-timers offer them flexibility. If the economy picks up, they can quickly offer full-time work. If orders dry up, they know costs are under control. It also helps them to curb costs they might face under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Welcome to the new “normal”, everyone.
Are they really surprised by business reacting to government lowering what full time employment is. This change is hurting workers, no doubt about that in the least. The unaffordable care act benefits two things, low income workers and government, everybody else is getting the shaft.
And, right on the heels of the part-time-worker movement, will come the cuts to existing employer sponsored health plans. Consider the recent action by UPS: (From Bloomberg BusinessWeek)
“United Parcel Service will drop medical benefits for the spouses of its white-collar workforce who are able to get coverage through their own employers, according to a report in Kaiser Health News. The change applies only to spouses of nonunion employees in the U.S.—the company’s 250,000 union workers won’t be affected—and UPS (UPS) expects about 15,000 spouses will become ineligible for health benefits as a result of the change.
Why drop coverage for the husbands and wives of employees who can be insured by their own employers? UPS pointed to the Affordable Care Act…”
That is the idea — the ‘new normal’. Learn to live like the USSR: do without.
Great to see ya!
And yes, we do seem to be intent on re-defining normal…
OUT: “Hope and Change”
IN: “The beatings will continue until the morale improves!!”
Yup, I’ve traveled in Russia and “live without” is indeed the state of affairs there. Rolling blackouts are normal and planned around.
And soon to be norm here if Obama has his way.
“The beatings will continue until the morale improves!!” dittos!!!!!!!
Notice the similarities between Hitler and Obama and the brainwashing ad using of the YOUTH.
Although maybe more like a carbon copy (I realize I’m dating myself with that reference, but still…).
Get ’em while they’re young and stupid, ….and keep ’em that way.
Unfortunately, it seems to be working.
Pop culture and Kardashian oxygen thieves have stolen an entire generations mind thanks to some really bad parenting
And their parents’ minds were stolen by the late 60’s/early 70’s.
I swear, get rid of that Marxist 7-10 years span, and 2/3 of the country’s problems would never have occurred, …including Obama.
Spot on brother. 🙂 keep on writing the good stuff.
Hugely appreciated, Slayer.
Thrilled to have you here!
And it’s been made MUCH easier since FAR TOO MANY of their parents were dumbed down in this mess that they call an “educational system”. Ignorance has a way of breeding more ignorance…..
Once again, you and I are on the same page, Pgh.
Dude, get out of my head!!
But I LIKE it in there!
OUT! OUT! OUT!!!!
Well, it IS actually a bit crowded in there…..all of that logic, reason and truth takes up some serious space. I think I’ll look for a nice, empty spot….
“Hello…Mr. Obama…..I’m moving in.”
Actually, it would sound more like, “I’m moving in, …in,
*sigh* I grieve for the future. When I was young, we used to say “the future is so bright, I gotta wear my shades” (and we wore our sunglasses at night 😉 ), but the future that our kids have is nothing but evil darkness and no pair of sunglasses is gonna save them from it.
I need a vacation… from the world.
p/s: article is fantastic as always JTR, but I seriously enjoyed reading the comments!
Teach, somehow I didn’t picture you as a Corey Hart fan! LOL!
LOL oh but, yes! I have a plethora of musical taste! :p
Or Timbuk3, for that matter.
More like Judas Priest, or Whitesnake…..
Dudes! Can’t a rockNroll chick get her pop on? :p
Seriously, and back on the article topic… WHEN will the people wake up are realize this is NOT how America works? The masses scream about ‘unfairness’ and demand ‘equality’, HA! Just wait a couple years, when the worker bees are struggling with two or three part time jobs to barely put food on the table and the ELITES are sittin’ hog pretty with their full bellies! THEN there will be true class division, without hope or opportunity for anyone to ever excel into a higher lot in life. *sigh* Welcome to the new monarchy….
***And just for the record, I enjoy the comments here more than anything, too!
Hard to imagine, that conservatives have bigger problems than underemployment, but we do:
Defense Department Teaching Documents Suggest Mainstream Conservative Views “Extremist”
My, things sure have CHANGED a lot…oh that’s right….
