When he was first elected, President Obama could seemingly do no wrong. His speeches were greeted as if he was God’s own herald, and he was showing the path to Heaven.
Now? Not so much.
Luckily for us, we have located his Achilles Heel: Obama himself. Or, to put a finer point on it, Obama’s abnormally outsized ego.
Remember, this is the guy who informed us that:
“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,’’ he told campaign aides when he was running for the White House. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that . . . I’m a better political director than my political director.’’
A humble man, he ain’t.
Make no mistake: even though Socialized Medicine had been a Leftist fever dream for decades, it was President Obama’s unparalleled opinion of his own infallibility which was instrumental in The Affordable Care Act becoming law.
Yet now, with the planned roll-out of Obamacare supposedly imminent, all of his cocky promises and puffery have culminated in exactly what one might expect: sky-rocketing costs, chaos and failure.
The examples are everywhere:
- The projected cost of government subsidies of health care coverage were far too low,
- Rather than becoming cheaper, the rates of individual premiums are going UP: way, WAAAY up.
- The proposed health insurance exchanges are inherently flawed, which means that “the idealized, seamless user experience initially envisioned under the Affordable Care Act is no longer possible” (via Ed over at HotAir.com)
- Unable to create a working system to check someone’s eligibility for insurance subsidies, the HHS now says it will instead rely on “self-reporting”. Translation: millions of people who are ineligible for subsidies will receive them anyway, jacking the costs even higher.
As a result of all this, popular opposition to Obamacare has now reached an all-time high, this occurring a full 3+ years after the law was passed. That’s 3+ years that the Administration has had to get their act together and prove all of us naysayers wrong.
Can I say “I told you so” yet?
Yeah, I think I can.
In response to this epic failure, the Obama Administration knew something had to be done. Did they roll up their sleeves to fix the problems? Or did they meekly come before the American people and apologize for making all those multitudinous promises, none of which will be kept?
The answer is: neither, of course.
And to that end, they’re now employing librarians, the HHS, and even your own children in an effort to brainwash you into disbelieving yer’ own lying eyes. Heck, Obama even forced his Cabinet officials to hawk O-Care during this past year’s graduation commencement speeches.
When you have to resort to boring a bunch of restless, soon-to-be graduates and their families with the Wonders of Socialized Medicine, you know you’ve got a real winner on your hands.
All of this means, simply, that this entire fiasco is doomed to fail. The trick will be in not allowing Obamacare’s failure to trigger a failure in our economy. And THAT means we’ve still got work to do, and we need to work quickly.
First, we have to keep informing the nation of the facts, which is why Paul Ryan just asked the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to recalculate the cost of Obamacare, in light of the Administration’s impromptu delay in implementation.
Secondly, we must continue to mock this hemorrhoidal healthcare law incessantly, because the first step of actual legislative repeal is for people to feel free to mock it. It needn’t be vulgar or mean-spirited to be effective, either.
Let Jay Leno show you how it’s done:
And last but most importantly, do NOT give in to the Leftist’s meme of inevitability. This monolithic monstrosity is staggering under its own weight: all we need to do is keep up the effort and a full repeal is still yet possible.
Have no fear: we’ll be helped every step of the way by our ultimate weapon, which is President Obama himself. Every time he opens his mouth nowadays, he makes the dichotomy between reality and his envisioned Statist Utopia ever more stark:
“We can’t just take comfort in being cynical.
We all have a stake in government success, because the government is us, and we’re doing things right.”
Oh, that’s just rich.
Keep talking, champ. You’re helping us more than you know.

Going forward, this is a great first step. From Allahpundit over at HotAir:
“Boehner to Obama: We want the individual mandate delayed for a year just like the employer mandate was…”
Read it all.
