Gun Control, our Children and the State

Cupcakes-500x281You have likely heard of some of the more ridiculous gun-related stories from the past week:

Welcome to the new ‘tolerance’.

These events prompted Maryland state senator J. B. Jennings to introduce “Senate Bill 1058 – The Reasonable School Discipline Act of 2013″. Courtesy of the Daily Caller:

Senate Bill 1058 restricts the disciplinary options Maryland public school officials can use for any student who “brings to school or possesses” an image of a gun or an object that might look like a gun but isn’t one.

The bill also includes a section mandating counseling for school officials who fail to distinguish between guns and things that resemble guns. School officials who fail to make such a distinction more than once would face discipline themselves.

Great idea, and sad as heck that it even needs to be contemplated.

And sadder still when you consider from where this whole anti-gun hysteria is primarily emanating: Washington DC and our elected leaders. When you have Senators promoting gun bans which would do nothing to address the very incident they’re using as their rationale for the ban in the first place; and when you have our President issuing new diktats that would eviscerate Constitutional Amendments, what do we expect? Of course the more rabid Statists are going to overreact.

The State has spoken, and Rule #1 of Statism is “Never, ever question the State“.

Never question authority

As I alluded to earlier, where is the alleged “tolerance” from the Left? It’s not there, and it never has been. For all their “defenders-of-freedom” posturing, they are always on the side of State control, and true State control can’t be realized with an armed populace.

Want more proof? Here is Jason Mattera interviewing Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), as she outlines the “Big Picture” of where she and her fellow travelers are taking the whole gun issue. Courtesy of Breitbart.com:

Thanks for the honesty, Jan!!!!!

I find it odd that for all the Left talks of sensitivity around our kids, these same folks use the same argument, but reverse it, when talking about subjects THEY care about. For instance, Planned Parenthood is taxpayer-funded, and uses this to get into the schools to “teach” our children everything from masturbation, to proper use of a condom, to oral sex. And this to kids who are in the 5th grade …or younger.

Is THIS somehow less traumatic for a child than being “threatened” with a Hello Kitty ‘bubble gun’, or being in the same room as a pastry with a plastic WWII soldier on it? According to the increasingly intolerant Left, that answer would be “Yes“!!!

There are no Marquess of Queensberry rules being used here: this has become a virtual war, and the entire culture is the battlefield. The prize? Our Constitution and the minds & souls of our children.

And don’t kid yourself: we’re not even a consideration. We are little more than collateral damage, …which is more-than-a-little ironic when you think about it.

As with just about ALL of the arguments from the Left (and I apologize for repeating this comment OVER and OVER again), they are emotionally based, and can’t hold water when confronted with facts and logic. A pastry that LOOKS like a gun is threatening? What would they say if the kid chewed it into the shape of a missile? How about a bow and arrow? Next, we’ll have requirements on the manufacturers to put a disclaimer on the packaging: XYZ Company is NOT responsible for any damages arising out of the chewing of our product into the shape of a weapon. CERTAINLY, (the Left will argue) that EVIL corporation IS responsible merely by making a product that can be chewed into an insensitive shape.

Your “Keep the home front pledge” brought back memories of George Carlin: “Now…Let’s ALL take the non-conformist’s oath”

  2. Better ban “F” too because it has a magazine clip…

    And, “W” is misogynistic…

  4. Loved this! Writing a blog post similar to this. The culture in the US is so devoid of common sense that we are incapable of addressing the real issues that need addressing. Instead we are suspending kids for eating pop tarts. Game Over.

    • Thanks, Cosmo! This is one of the topics that truly scares and infuriates me. I’m an adult: come after me, …but leave my kids alone.
But no: the Left wants my kids, and yours, and everyone else’s kid, too. They want them because if they get THEM, then they can continue their madness for generations to come.

This is a bright line in the sand, and they’ve crossed it.

  5. Is “G” really a “C” pointing a gun at itself?
