If you’re a WordPress blogger, then you recognize this graphic. It’s the “cover” of the 2012 annual report for each blog. I thought it would be fun today to do a little retrospective on our first year of blogging here at Two Heads are Better Than One….
[Of course, what’s “fun” for me may be a dead bore for you…so please feel free to walk quietly away and leave me to my navel-gazing. You won’t hurt my feelings. Check back tomorrow when JTR will have something much more interesting for you, I’m sure!]
JustTurnRight had eight of our top ten most-visited blog posts for the year. If we discount Bill Whittle (a great video, but it’s a reblog), then JTR’s true “top” posts were Is Toxic Waste Green? and Land of the Fearful, Home of the Meek. Both of these are from this summer. Another older but popular post of his was Watching You. (All three of these are still relevant, so if you missed them the first time, by all means take a look at them now.) Two other strong pieces of JTR’s writing (as opposed to videos or cartoons) in our top twenty were Up in Smoke and We Told Ya So.
JTR wanted me to mention two other posts of his that he especially liked, from back in the day, when we were virtually unheard of (we’ve moved up now to ‘relatively obscure’): Take My Breath Away, and Soda is NOT the Enemy. One of my personal favorites of his (boy, it was tough to decide!) is If You’re Really My Friend, You’d Tackle Me.
My own top two? The Hobbit: An Uninspiring Journey and Who’s the REAL Chicken? The former is from waaaay back last Friday, and the latter was written about the Chik-fil-A brouhaha this summer. My other two posts which fall in the top twenty are less time-sensitive: Slaves of the Master was my response to Obamacare, and What Does It Really Mean to Be Thankful? is a perennially popular post that I’ve reprised for several years at Thanksgiving time. (I can actually claim five of the top twenty posts, if we include “About this blog”–which in fact I did write, even if it’s not very exciting.)
Among my own older material, a couple of my favorites are The Silence is Deafening (on religious persecution) and Being What I’m Not (on spiritual formation). JTR mentioned Mixing Politics and Religion as one of mine that he especially liked.
So what’s ahead for 2013? I think I can safely say that we’ll continue to do what we’ve been doing for the past nine months, trying to bring you important news briefs which you might have missed, along with fresh perspectives on current events, and a dose of spiritual encouragement to boot. Our modest goal is to radically change our culture towards conservative moral and political values and the Christian faith…one post at a time, one reader at a time. Wish us luck?
Whether you’ve been visiting us occasionally, following us faithfully, or just found us recently, we’re glad you’re here, we hope you’ll join the conversation and that we’ll see and hear more from you in 2013.
Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen
