“Benghazi-gate”: The most recent (and worst) example of how Obama has utterly failed

Hope you had a chance to view the videos I linked yesterday (in ‘FINALLY: Media begins asking real questions of Carney and the Obama Administration‘).  You may wish to go watch them first, if you haven’t already.

There was much, much more that came out on Wednesday, and the best, most complete distillation of it is Guy Benson’s post over at Townhall.com.

To me, however, the most stunning, tin-eared statement (and there were more than just a couple) came from Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb:

“…we had the correct number of assets in Benghazi at the time of 9-11.”

Ummm, ….didn’t 4 of our folks die as a result of the “correct number of assets“?

I immediately had one of those flashback moments, where I could plainly hear Janet Napolitano’s voice echoing in my skull as she discussed the Christmas Day Bomber back in 2009:

This Administration lives in Fantasy Land. Either they are dumber than tree sap, …or they think that we are.

As we’ve covered over and over again: we had our lunch handed to us on 9/11. Again. Real world alert: if your plan fails completely and utterly, it wasn’t the “correct” plan. You cannot then get up in front of anyone that has brain cells still firing and say something so insipid as “we had the correct number of assets in place“, when that “correct” number resulted in our citizens’ deaths.

Unless you work for President “A Solid B+“, I suppose.

There are any number of reasons to throw this whole Administration overboard:

Now, however, they’re attempting to whitewash an event that is simply just too visible. It’s obvious to all but the willfully blind that they screwed up, and that they repeatedly deceived the American people after the event.

Further, we learned this morning that we just had yet another “bump in the road“, this time in Yemen:

Masked gunmen shot dead a Yemeni man on his way to work at the U.S. embassy in Sanaa on Thursday, a security source said, the latest in a wave of assassinations in the Arab state where Washington is battling al Qaeda militants.

The attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on a car carrying Qassem Aqlan – who headed an embassy security team – in the center of Yemen’s capital, the source told Reuters.

According to Ed Morrissey over at HotAir.com, the victim’s specific job description is still in question:

Reuters says he “headed an embassy security team,” while other reports range from his being a security guard to the chief of security at the embassy.

Regardless, it appears to be open season on our personnel around the globe. Gee, I sure am glad that the “World Loves Us Again”:

And for all this, Obama wants to be rewarded with another four years to do…what, exactly? Get more of our non-combatants killed? Allow Iran to start tossing nuclear bombs around like they’re party favors? Have us so deep in hock that it’ll take my annual salary to buy bread for the week?

What am I missing here?

Somebody, anybody: please let me know why this guy deserves even a cursory consideration for a 2nd shot at a job that he thoroughly whiffed at the first time around??

I’m waiting….

  1. This “cover up” makes sense when you view it through the administration’s need to maintain the “Al-Queda is defeated” mantra they adopted while figuratively dragging Bin Laden’s corpse all over the country. Quite simply, they painted themselves into a corner where they CAN’T acknowledge that Al Queda is alive, growing, and planning, PARTICULARLY in Northern Africa since the removal of Mubarek, et al. So, they ignore it, and you get the Benghazi planned and coordinated attack as a result. Our enemies ALWAYS prey on our weaknesses, and Obama, as a foreign policy “leader” is dismal at best, criminal at worst.

The MOST UNQUALIFIED man to ever occupy the White House didn’t merit a FIRST TERM as President, let alone another FOUR YEARS of “trying to get it right”. Frankly, I think he’s getting done EXACTLY what he planned to do all along, and in that sense, has been a major success. Which is why those “in-the-know”, called for the failure of his policies.

EVERY American needs to wake up and see the real STATE OF THE UNION four years from now if this man is re-elected.

    • So, Pgh, how do you REALLY feel?
      😉
No argument with anything you said, brother. Obama’s fall is actually breathtaking, …Icarus-esque in its magnitude.

And just as a reminder: no one ran out and gave Icarus ANOTHER set of wings so he could ‘give it another go’, as you’ll recall.

      • I just can’t seem to wrap my mind around how the MSM STILL provides cover for this administration, although, I am seeing at least SOME random acts of journalism by them. Seriously, you have to be almost “Guyana-like” following the Dems version of Jim Jones.

        • If the political heat gets turned up HOT enough, the press’ll eventually jump ship, but only to save their own miserable, worthless hides.

I’m setting the blog at “Torrid” for the remainder of the month…

  2. Does Charlene Lamb think that Custer had the “correct number of assets” at Litttle Bighorn?

Just caught a few snippets from an interview between Anderson Cooper and the mother of the young man who died in the attack. Wow….does she ever take Obama, Hillary, Susan Rice and Leon Panetta to the woodshed!
