President Profligate

I remembered him saying it, but I just wanted to hear it again:

Yeah, those were good times.

Now, of course, our debt is soaring towards the heavens, and to heck with those flowery speeches of yesteryear. That doesn’t seem to faze President Profligate, who just had his third budget voted down unanimously, this time by a tally of 99-0.

For the record, his previous budgets lost in the Senate 97-0 (May, 2011), & in the House 414-0 (March of this year).

Hold on; let me count here. That makes the final total tally for all three Obama budgets about…..hold on….that would …be…

…..610? To NOTHING? No one? Not even a single Democrat vote? Heck, if you’ve proposed something so crazy that even Hank “Tipper” Johnson or Max “Last Call” Baucus wouldn’t vote for it, you’ve really flown the coop.

Of course, some folks complained about the vote itself. Guess who?

Democrats disputed that it was actually the president’s plan, arguing that the slim amendment didn’t actually match Mr. Obama’s budget document, which ran thousands of pages. But Republicans said they used all of the president’s numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, even challenged Democrats to point out any errors in the numbers and he would correct them — a challenge no Democrat took up.

Senator Mitch McConnell then summed it up well:

“The President wants to be able to take his budget around the country to talk about the parts of it he thinks people will like. And Democrats in Congress want to be able to avoid a vote on it because it’s so damaging for job creation, seniors, and the economy.
“Well, if anybody wants to know what a failure of leadership looks like, this is it.”

I guess the fact that absolutely no one, not a single person, from either party, voted for it won’t matter to the folks at NBC, PBS, or the Boston Globes of the world. The media will either:

  • (a) ignore the story completely (“budget vote? WHAT budget vote?”), or
  • (b) spin this complete & utter failure by Obama as: Republican Intransigence!

Anyone doubt me?

This guy makes Jimmy Carter looks substantive….Sadly, too many will simply accept the rhetoric with little to no understanding of the absolute unsustainable economics of this man. Perhaps his book should have been titled: “The Audacity of Dopes”….

  2. Yeah, sure, Obozo’s a lightweight, but it’s a lot scarier than that—he’s one messed up dude psychologically.

Many conservative columnists and pundits have referred to our prez as a malignant narcissist. I finally decided to find out exactly what that means. According to DSM-IV-TR, a diagnostic manual used by mental health professionals, Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD, aka “malignant narcissism) is a disorder characterized by grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy. It goes far beyond mere “narcissism” in the usual sense of the word—NPD is a deeply perverted self-love. A malignant narcissist doesn’t just revere himself; he demands that others revere him as well. If the victim of the narcissist fails to revere him, he/she will invariably be subjected to emotional, mental or even physical abuse.

This page from the oddly named site Trubble’s CatBox™ features a list of 20 traits of malignant narcissists: http://www.drirene.com/catbox/index.php?showtopic=40676. Being generous to a fault, I believe the prez regularly exhibits no less than seven (7) of the 20 traits. And those are just the ones we see all the time. Lord only knows what goes on when the public can’t see.

    Frightening.

Thank you, Buckeye, for the chill that continues to linger after reading your post. Unlike the much-heralded “Chris Matthews Leg Tingle”, this “chill” is, shall I say, a “bit” more ominous and troubling?

      • You got that right, brother. And I think even Chrissie’s tingle went away a long time ago. But the media have too much invested in this guy to give up on him now.

      • justturnright

        Yeah, I’m with you, Pgh.

I can’t disagree with Buckeye’s analysis, but having such a person in charge of our new domestic Drone Strike system makes me want to hide in my bunker for the foreseeable future…..

    Three budgets voted down unanimously.

    Is that a record?

    • justturnright

Not sure if we can find out, Hatfield.

The newly proposed “Department of Budget Records Record Keeping” was to be included with Obama’s last budget.
