A Cynical Opportunist

“….an overwhelming majority of respondents, 67%, think the president backed same-sex marriage last week “mostly for political reasons,” while only 24% think he did it “mostly because he thinks it is right.” This column agrees with the 24% more than the 67%, but in any case Obama has managed a neat trick: He has managed to look like a cynical opportunist while taking an unpopular position.”

This article is a great review of the past week’s events and the resulting political fallout thus far, but you’ll need to go over to wsjonline for the entire column.

I’m curious as to what he ACTUALLY thinks is right….Is it that gay couples should be allowed to enter into civil unions with all rights, etc, of traditional marriage, or that that act should be referred to as “Marriage”? It certainly wasn’t all that long ago, when then-candidate Obama was decidedly FOR the DOMA….

Please bear with me while I remain rather skeptical about his recent “conversion” for what is clearly a politically inspired move to excite his base, while creating yet ANOTHER distraction to anyone actually LOOKING at his horrifically DISMAL record…

  2. It was clearly political. He gave his opinion and only his opinion and left it up to the States to decide. So…he looks like a champ to the gay community and does not have to do anything. The right better get their act together because Obama is a pretty crafty and skilled politician who has mainstream media in his pocket.

  3. Obama is so pathetic…unfit to lead, and yes, of course he only did it for political reasons. I don’t think the guy has any moral compass!

It’s almost a cliché at this point, but he really is the Panderer In Chief.

We must get him out; we WILL get him out.
And I don’t care how much “evolving” he does between now and November……
